| Description | Game Farm Pearston. This 3700ha game farm in the mountains is a real stunner. The farm is game fenced and stocked with Kudu, Blesbok, Springbok, Wildebeest and Mountain Reedbuck. Two homesteads newly renovated, numerous outbuildings, slaughter facilities with cold rooms, biltong room and salt room. Numerous boreholes and springs, 25ha of old lucern lands with dragline irrigation. The Eastern Cape is a remarkably diverse area - ranging from the lush, evergreen Tsitsikamma Forest to the rugged Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, the southern slopes of the Drakensberg Mountains and the arid Great Karoo desert. It is known as the land of rolling hills, endless sweeps of rocky coves and stunning beaches, towering mountain ranges and fertile forests. The largest attraction in the Eastern Cape is its astonishing coastline, which is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts: surfers ride perfect waves, anglers reel in king-size catches, and windsurfers take on the inviting challenge of the wind. The Eastern Cape comprises seven different biomes, of which the Grassland, Nama Karoo, Thicket and Savanna biomes are the most extensive.
A total of 316 threatened plant species are found in the province, more than one fifth occurring in the Thicket biome. The Forest and Fynbos biomes contain the highest number of threatened plants per unit area. There are three centres of endemism in the province, namely the Albany, Drakensberg and Pondoland centres. The province is home to 4 endemic freshwater fish species, 8 threatened marine fish species, 6 threatened frog species (4 of these are endemic), and 19 threatened reptile species (18 of these are endemic).
More than 10% of Eastern Cape's surface area is conserved in some way. Some of these areas include proclaimed provincial nature reserves, marine reserve, and coastal islands; while others are referred to as conservation or wilderness areas. Spectacular examples of local vegetation are ericas, protease, wild daisies, the Cape Thatching reed, the Yellowwood, Schotia and Coral Trees, Spekboom (favourite food of the elephant), tree fuschia, sneezewood, guarri, the num-num and other shrubs (found predominantly in the Addo area), many varied grass types, Euphorbia, Aloe and other succulents, along with herbs and bulbous plants. Thuyspunt is a rocky stretch of coast approximately 12 km WNW of Cape St Francis, west of Thysbaai beach and SE of Oyster Bay (Oesterbaai), a small coastal village, and Humansdorp, an administrative and industrial town servicing the Kouga region and rich farming area.
Thuyspunt (Thyspunt) has become a significant area in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa as it has been identified by the South African electricity company, Eskom, as the site for a future nuclear reactor. The Nuclear Power Station will, without doubt, substantially boost the economic growth of the surrounding areas. Other nearby villages and towns set to benefit are: St Francis Bay a coastal village, situated about 18kms SSW of Humansdorp, has a unique canal system, building style and access to the Kromme River. It has attracted both national and international investors for years. Luxurious holiday and permanent homes are testament to its popularity. Vacant land and up-market apartments at Port St Francis are also appealing options Golfers come from far and wide to play on the local St Francis Bay Golf Course and the challenging St Francis Links where homeowners experience exclusivity, security and clubhouse facilities. A variety of other sporting facilities are available in the Village. Notable for surfers, it is the home of the famous Bruce's Beauties. Cape St Francis, a five-minute drive away with its historical lighthouse built in 1878, has a magnificent beach and residential properties are also popular for holidaymakers and permanent homes. Nature trails crisscross the area giving much pleasure to those who love the indigenous fynbos and rocky coastline. Jeffrey's Bay, another coastal town, is famous for the Billabong Surfing Competition and enthusiastic champions and locals turn up regularly to experience the super tubes for which the area is known.
